FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The Autologous Micrografting treatment is a multitargeted answer to the multiple alterations that androgenic alopecia has on the hair cycle. It takes healthy follicles from the patient’s scalp and uses its progenitor cells, stem cells and growth factors to stimulate self-regeneration in hair follicles in process of miniaturisation, restoring the cycle.
Before treatment we’ll invite you for an appointment to take microscopic images of the hair follicles and send them to a labarotry for a diagnosis, to make sure this treatment is suitable for you. Once the results are back, when you come into the clinic for your treatment we will begin with local anesthetic being applied, a small area at the back of the ear will be shaved and three small biopsies will be taken from the nape behind the ear where your hair growth is strongest. The biopsy samples will then be disaggregated in the device before being injected back into the scalp.
Autologous Micrografting takes around 30 minutes to complete. Of course, your appointment will be longer than this to allow us time to talk you through the procedure, cleanse and numb your skin, and share aftercare advice.
You must try to avoid touching the treated area due to the risk of introducing infection and migration of the product. Avoid exercise and direct sunlight on the same day of treatment. Keep the area dry and clean for the first 24 hours, washing only with lukewarm water and allowing the hair to air dry.
Most people will need to repeat this treatment approximately every 1.5-2 years for maintenance.
Combination treatments are recommended which can be discussed during your consultation.
