About This Project

This is an amazing procedure which can benefit almost anyone with healthy teeth who would like a whiter, more dazzling smile. Healthy teeth often darken with age or staining from certain foods such as coffee, red wine or even smoking but can be treated very successfully using teeth whitening.
Teeth whitening is a way of simply changing the colour of the teeth without changing the shape.

There are two main methods of whitening teeth:

  • Home teeth whitening
  • Deep bleaching

Evidence has shown that the use of the laser light is not effective in the whitening process, and we therefore do not use the laser or dental light during these procedures.

Home Teeth Whitening
You are provided with a home whitening kit and the procedure is done at home. Impressions of your teeth are taken and whitening trays are fabricated. A whitening gel (Opalescence) is squeezed into the trays, which are placed over the teeth. Usually these are worn overnight for up to 14 nights.

Deep Bleaching
Deep Bleaching is arguably the biggest breakthrough in whitening over the last ten years. This is an extraordinary new technique for whitening, which delivers predictable, long lasting results with minimal sensitivity on every single patient.
The difference with deep bleaching is the results. Deep Bleaching works by increasing the tooth’s permeability to oxygen which breaks down stain molecules. It is a combination treatment meaning that there is a 2 week home treatment followed by a 1 hour visit in the dental chair. The active ingredient is carbamide peroxide for the home treatment and hydrogen peroxide for the in-surgery whitening.
