Dermal Fillers

Delay the signs of ageing

Dermal fillers work at a deeper level to delay the signs of ageing and improves the overall skin tone and elasticity without affecting facial expression.

As we get older our production of collagen, elastic tissue and hyaluronic acid decreases and so our skin can lose volume and lines can appear. Our natural fat pads in the face diminish and coupled with years of sun exposure, lifestyle factors and gravity, we show the tell-tale signs of ageing.

Injectable fillers are a great way to reduce the severity of these lines – they are natural or synthetic, fully biodegradable gels which are easily injected using very small needles to replenish the lost volume and literally fill out those lines and hollows, resulting in an instantly smoother and much more youthful appearance. They are non-animal-based products which are perfectly safe, so there is no better or more natural way to transform your looks and get rid of those lines! Some of the fillers we use have even been proven to restart your own natural collagen production in the skin, so literally giving you younger, fresher skin.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does the treatment involve?

The products are injected into various skin layers using either a fine needle or a blunt cannula, or a combination of the two. Pain relief is achieved with the use of a topical anaesthetic cream before treatment and some dermal filler products also contain the anaesthetic lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience.

How long does Dermal Filler treatment take?

The treatment takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Afterwards, you will see the results straight away. Moreover, the effects will last between 6 – 18 months , depending upon the areas treated and the filler used.

How many ml of Dermal Filler will I need?

This is entirely dependent on the treatment area, the volume needed and the desired results. This will be discussed prior to any treatment in your consultation.

What aftercare is required?

It is important that prior to any treatment, that you avoid any products containing aspirin as this thins the blood and can cause bruising around the injection site. After injection, it is important not to touch the area due to the risk of introducing infection into the area.

What happens after treatment?

The treatment benefits can be seen instantly. You can expect slight redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and/or bruising following treatment. This is the same as you might expect with any type of injection. However, this is temporary and generally disappears after a few days.

Will the treated area become hard or feel unusual?

The dermal fillers we use integrate so rapidly into your own tissue that you are unlikely to feel the implant when you touch the treated area. This is especially important in areas like lips, where you will want to see the results but not necessarily feel anything different.

Are dermal fillers permanent?

No. Over time, the hyaluronic acid in the dermal filler degrades naturally, giving you the freedom to decide if you want further youthful rejuvenation treatment in the future.

How long does the dermal filler last?

The effect will depend on the individual and the area that has been treated, In clinical studies 66% of patients continued to show a visible improvement 9 months after a single treatment. Most clients opt for follow-up treatments after 6 to 12 months to maintain a fresh, youthful appearance.

What else can I do?

Ultherapy is a key treatment for those looking for a lift in their face and neck. This is a micro-focused ultrasound which causes micro-wounds deep in the tissue to stimulate collagen and elastin production producing a two finger lift to the treatment area, without the need for incisions.

ZO Skin Health by Doctor Zein Obagi is fantastic at treating a range of issues on the skin. By using these and adding in a retinol protocol, you can stimulate the skin to start producing collagen and elastin resulting in firmer and tighter skin and a lifting effect.
