Blepharoplasma

Grow thicker, darker and longer lashes

Non-surgical blepharoplasma gives outstanding results which you would normally only expect after surgery but there are no scalpels and no suturing involved.

Excess skin around the eyes and hooded eyelids are often seen as ageing and tired looking. Belpharoplasma is the aesthetic restoration of the eyelid region by eliminating excess skin from the eyelids using a non-invasive Fractional Plasma device. Results are permanent and can be immediately visible after treatment with minimal downtime and a safe alternative to other available methods.

The excess eyelid skin is sublimated using the plasma beam without damage to the basement membrane, muscle or other underlying structures.

Treatment consists of multiple shots spaced closely together and the upper, lower or both eyelids can be treated. The procedure normally takes less than 40 minutes to perform. Results are seen instantly although the best appearance is seen after 3 weeks. 2 – 3 treatments at 4 – 6 weekly intervals are often required to give the results similar to a surgical procedure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What areas can be treated?

The fractional plasma device removes excess skin, skin lesions and reduces lines and wrinkles by tissue sublimation. There is no cutting involved. It can be used for:

  • Non-surgical blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)
  • Brow lift
  • Scarring including stretch marks, acne scars and post-surgical scars
  • Pigmentation and sun spots
  • Acne treatment
  • Skin lesions such as fibromas, moles, verrucas, warts, keloids and xanthelasmas
How many Treatments will I need?

We recommend to have 2-3 treatments every 6 weeks. Although some patients had remarkable results after just one treatment.

Is it safe and does it hurt?

30 minutes before a non-surgical blepharoplasty, we apply local anaesthetic cream to minimise any discomfort. In other areas, we may use local anaesthetic cream or an injection to provide numbness. The treatment may warm and there may be a tingling sensation afterwards.

Are there any side-effects?

Tiny black spots appear after a fractional plasma procedure. Swelling and redness is also common and often lasts several days. It can be quite significant around the eyes. There may also be a tingling or burning sensation.

A scab or crust will form. It is important to keep this clean, dry and protected. If the area becomes red, hot and tender or if there is pus present, please contact the clinic as this may indicate an infection. Scarring may occur following treatment.

What can I expect after treatment?

Tiny black spots appear where Dr Huss fires individual shots which flake off over the following days (up to 2 weeks). It is worse the following morning and often lasts for several days. Allow the spots or scabs to fall off naturally otherwise there is an increased risk of infection or scarring.

Swelling is very common especially around the eyes. The swelling may interfere with vision initially.

There maybe also be a burning sensation immediately after treatment. This usually settles 24 to 48 hours after treatment.

What aftercare is required for the Plasma Treatment?

Immediately after treatment there may be a burning sensation which should subside towards the end of the day. Cold compresses should be used to reduce swelling. You will have some crusting over the treatment area which must be left to naturally flake to avoid any infection or scarring.

When will I see the final results?

Skin folds and creases appear immediately better. The treated area will also continue to improve for up to 3 months after fractional plasma treatment.

The final result depends upon the general condition of the skin, severity of skin laxity, size of the lesion, any pre-existing skin or medical problems and the desired result.

As the treated skin is sublimated, the results often last years or permanently.

What else can I do?

When considering any treatment, you should consider our Dermalux LED light therapy which will promote healing and collagen production and stimulate blood flow.

Finally, we would recommend that patients invest in a cosmeceutical skincare range such as our ZO Skin Health by Dr Zein Obagi which will help to reduce lines and wrinkles in the skin, create a healthy skin barrier function and help combat pigmentation.
